This channel is all about being a helpful guide to people who want to write, but don’t really know where to begin. I want to make this a channel for people who were in my position when starting out, who really wanted to become better at the craft, but just needed someone out there to break it down for them.
For some background on myself, I’ve written 5 fantasy books and am working on a 6th right now. I’ve worked as the Managing Editor and Executive Associate for a Best-Selling author. I’ve had my work looked at and praised by accomplished editors like Robert Yehling and Sandra Fox. My passion is everything with story: books, television, movies, video games, you name it. This channel will dive into every single one of them!

So I watched a lot of 2D animation...Nothing can come as far as this to my heart
one of the reasons why Deus Ex and Metal Gear games that reward you for not blasting your way through the story ( if you want ) are so good. Imagine if Skyrim had a real update as in a serious team of dedicated people come in to rewrite and reengineer the bugs and rough edges from skyrim?
To quote a certain video-game "Father. Is it always moral to kill something that's....trying to kill you" - son of war. "Yes" - Dad of war. "Well, there ya have it lad" - Uncle of war
Monopoly go is literally a game that triggers addictive impulses like casino games, to manipulate it's client base isn't spending all their money on it. Terrible sponsor. As a gamer, you should have standards on sponsorships. This one diminishes my opinion of you and this is my first video of yours I'm watching.
In Season 2 of Daredevil there was a great rooftop scene with Frank and Matt having an argument about killing. With some great lines like: "You hit them and they keep getting up. I hit them and they stay down" and "You are one bad day away from becoming me".
I remember watching a video that entailed what the DB might have to go through once everything is said and done. And that's all the god's said DB has made deals with and sold their soul to. I can't imagine a Tamriel that doesn't end in Armageddon because of this. Either they hash it out in their realm, or more likely, they'll fight in the mortal one. All because our DB wanted a cool knife or a little helper down the line. Its wild.
I wish we would get another The Incredibles movie with an actual supervillain, not just some mortal with gadgets.
I like dragons, but not quite as much as you do. Game of Thrones ruined the dragons. The new series with the house off the dragon, however, is pretty decent when it comes to the dragons. At least through season one it was cool.
THAT WAS THE BEST DEEP DIVE i'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF WHATCHING!!!
The Joker is the best character in all of fiction.
Vincero are overpriced Chinese made garbage. Buy at your own risk.
When Jamie says "the things I do for love," before that in the pause I couldn't help but think of Courage the cowardly dog
With those looks, I wouldn’t work either
another things ive noticed about the orcs is that some of them are actual blood brothers, and some of them are actually terified of you, they will flee at the sight of you, we are the bright lord, their mortal enemy
Batman and Joker is definitely the example of this that most comes to mind for me. I don't think Batman's refusal to kill is necessarily right or wrong. The most flawed part of this eternal cycle of Joker murdering dozens or hundreds or millions of people, being captured and imprisoned, and escaping two weeks later is that it lacks creativity in retaining a nemesis. Joker is irreplaceable to the Batman franchise, and the aforementioned cycle seems to be the only direction in which the writers know to proceed. In the real world there are alternative outcomes. Criminals can be rehabilitated (most of the time). They cannot escape prison (most of the time). Criminals that commit acts so terrible or often can be executed (most of the time). Because Joker is too valuable to the franchise to ever be permanently taken out of the equation as an antagonist for Batman, none of these realistic outcomes are generally going top occur...at least in the long term. Joker always escapes, and the legal system never executes him. Or he's not really dead. Or whatever.
I feel like the joker problem is more a symptom of the never-ending nature of mainstream comics. Writers inevitably end up doing the same thing over and over again because the story potential has practically been used up years ago, but DC is never gonna stop making Batman comics.
In real life we don't kill people because we believe they have to die, even cops only shoot if there is no other way to take the person in not because this person is an unrepentant murderer that's not something a person should get to decide.
In the technical sense, Syndrom basically committed a silent genocide against the supers
Thanos reminds me of s cancer. There will be metastasizing cells that spread, but it is still cancer. The Joker, he is the element of chaos. People want to be him, but dont understand what chaos means. They want the power and fun of it, but chaos is none of that. Chaos is just chaos. There is no power and there is no real fun. John Wick is a humanized Grim Reaper. Nothing can save you from him. You can try, you may have the money, and you have the power, but you cant. The kid signed his own death warrant and the "oh" from the dad is the realization that the kid is dead. It is kinda funny how the kid doesnt even realize what he did. He thinks it is simple revenge, but it isnt. His own dad punched him and told him a folk tale to tell him, but the kid didnt understand. Cancer can spread, chaos has no meaning, and you cant rob death.
This is a problem everyone has figured out already: Have a third character who's already morally compromised do the dirty work. Luke Skywalker can't kill the Emperor, Darth Vader can. Same thing with Batman, Joker, and Jason Todd.
Please get a pop filter, bro.
My Khajiit Dragonborn, killing bandits with the Mace of Molag Bal: yesss, feed my soul gems; I must increase my enchantment skill :3
This ideo really made me think of how I want to introduce one of my villains.
He can't marry Rhaenyra, this is where they draw the line ... Of incest 😂 Edit: She should have married Daemon. That's honestly the answer. It did happen eventually, but Daemon would have been the wise match. He's a rhabid dog that can bite hard, but if you're on his "good side", which you can be (It's just not clealry defined how to do that), you're golden. Only problem is, Viserys is a perosn, he's not an AI algorithm calculating what the best choice is... He knows Daemon, he thinks he will treat Rhaenyra poorly, and Viz loves his daughter to a fault.
This is great analysis of his person too btw. Stating that he "thought" as a loving husband he shouldn't marry another, and that forced Aemma to go through unnecessary pregnancies leading to ... Her death. I know how she died was horrible, but the odds of her surviving obstructed labor are ... Slim if I'm being generous. We just do Caesarians for those nowadays. But you're right in that she shouldn't have been pregnant TO BEGIN WITH. After he became king they both had a job, and this job did all the damage it can do to them as a couple and as people.
I strongly dislike "I refuse to kill" characters because they are so often hypocritical and end up harming or killing henchmen and even innocents through their actions or inactions without batting an eye while the actual person in power responsible for so much hardship and pain is treated much more fairly and respectfully. To me that's bad writing
Seriously though, everything was stable and he didn't engage in any unnecessary conflict. The kingdom was rich AF. And he did it all while having the worst diabetes ever.. Man is a legend, especially for his time. Weak my AZ.
Aemma was going to die anyway, the maester said that if they tried a normal delivery both her and the baby would die,so Viserys did the one thing to give his son a chance at life, and I think if they asked Aemma, she would have agreed...
I don't think Thor:Ragnarock shold be in "murder by inaction" section. Because Thor is not refusing to kill Hela on some moral basis. He just is not strong enough phisically. Bad example, really.
You average roughly 35k views a video and then you put the Dragonborn on the front and instantly get over 100k, a good sign the Skyrim fans need more content
Aang is the Greatest avatar in history. No one else compares. He is the most brilliant and powerful bender and avatar ever.
Pride is the mother of all sin.
8:00 would be pretty good to mention that the reason for hunting dragons near to destruction is because they were basically enslaving humans in the past and now they are back in skyrim to bring their old empire back so there is a reason why they are enemies.
I'm playing Skyrim on XBox now. I play almost every Friday night. My kids played it a while ago. I've gotten farther into it, discovered more things, done more quests than anyone else in the family. I noticed pretty quickly that Skyrim is the real world if there was no Judaism or Christianity or any other religion worshipping YHWH. It's a mishmash of demon worship and other forms of paganism. It's the past of pagan Europe and the future the socialists want for everyone. I kinda wish there was a morality gauge on the game so I could get rewarded for NOT doing x, y, or z type of quests. But as rich I am, there's no consequences for bad behavior.
The text boxes you included in quotes, can you include the sources? I really liked some of them and I can't tell if you were quoting someone else or yourself.
I was tabbed over for the transition but I can recognize the mom sobbing in Hereditary even though I only saw that movie the once. Yeesh.
I enjoy that (if you 100% the game} just by the way of being extremely powerful you're either a morally gray weapon of mass destruction or a straight up villain. Like, people fearing moral paragons like superman and spiderman is in basically every iteration of those characters, so the dragonborn should be the most horrifying being in the universe to like pretty much everyone in tamriel, even if you just take into account the war
I think that something that would've been intersting and original was if Marina did love Proteus but didn't fall in love with Sinbad during their journey. Of course, in that case, they should've shown more of Marina and Proteus together so that the ending (them getting together) wouldn't be unsatisfying to watch and also it would've been a completly different story : not about friendship, but about learning how to let go. But it would've been very unique ; and we wouldn't feel too bad for Proteus while he's in prison (I know a lot of people did because he was gonna sacrifice himself for Sinbad while Marina and Sinbad were having fun and falling in love).
Try 10 months and 1000 hours
John wick is a villain who retired. He was a hitman and there is no proof or mention or implication that he didn't kill any innocents while he was a hitman. And that past doesn't magically end and make him a hero after he retires. So wick is villain.
How can someone interpret this as happening AFTER dying? Herb clearly says there is no other side
Its such a good movie... how the dark lord can exist in our mundane world, make it fantastic, and how fights can be made and won with nothing but an action and soft words. Its a great movie, a great example of the 'mundane as fantastic', and while universal, is one of the best examples of a... 'feminine' hero's journey. Everything about the movie is 'soft' power and shows just how deadly that can be, how feminine has its own power, methods, and shadow. Conflict is not all screaming, blood and coreographed fights... it can be words, soft words, psychological dominance and torment, and yea... the reward can simply be figuring yourself out. The Devil Wears Prada is a great feminine version of a normal Hero's Journey. I always say, the best character is a character first, anything else next. A 'great female character' is a great character first, and the female part enhances, not defines purely.
17:16 TBHS?
I'm a really big fan of the new Planet of the Apes series. It's noteworthy that Cesar has 1 kill, and he has nightmares about it. He lets a bunch of humans die through his actions but I don't think he directly does any of them (except Malfoy, who kinda did it to himself). He goes to lengths to avoid that until the Colonel kills his family, and feels bad about that too
Anyone else think that the movie Atlantis is a metaphor for mankind's destructive tendencies. Just something that I've been thinking about why the movie is set in 1914. 1914 was when WWI started. WWI was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, only eclipsed by WWII in terms of body counts. Atlantis' downfall was a result of their own technology turning against them.
One weird one where the hero actively chooses not to kill, and not just against the main villain but against ALL enemies, is Kira Yamato from Gundam Seed. Around the midway point of the first season, he's sick of all the killing. He can handle the fighting, but from that point on, he tries to avoid killing any enemy at all cost. The interesting wrinkle to that, though, is that he'd already killed dozens, and he has to reckon with that in a very personal way due to the fallout from killing the deuteragonist's best friend - notably the last death he causes before making his choice not to kill.
35:04 😩 Finally, the center cut/point of this video.
Did this twenty year old ninja just say that he "understood death and the coping that comes with it" better than the rest of us? Every video makes my eyes roll more than the last.
I'm sorry, but I have to critique you for one thing: It is way too hard to read the white text on the pink background, and for the most part, your voice is understandable enough for the text to be unnecessary. Your production quality is great and your voice is nice for UA-cam, but if you would just have other non-text graphics in those parts, it would make your video much more watchable. Not that I'm going to stop watching the video...
It's why I hate characters like Blade and Van Helsing, they're literally committing genocide against an entire species of people.
